Shibuya Sky - Above the Roofs of Tokyo

Shibuya Sky View Tokyo Fuji

Amidst the lively hustle and bustle of Shibuya, one of the most exciting neighborhoods in Tokyo, emerges a new landmark: Shibuya Sky. This breathtaking observation platform offers visitors the opportunity to experience the pulsating metropolis from an entirely new perspective. Let's delve into the heights of Shibuya and discover why Shibuya Sky is an absolute must-visit for every Tokyo traveler.

Shibuya Sky - A Skyscraper of Superlatives:

Shibuya Sky is part of the Shibuya Scramble Square complex and, at 229 meters in height, is one of the tallest skyscrapers in Tokyo. Its modern architecture and innovative design make it an impressive element of the cityscape. However, the real highlight awaits on the upper floors, where the observation platform provides a 360-degree view of Tokyo and its fascinating surroundings.

Getting to Shibuya Sky is remarkably easy. The complex is located just a short walk from the famous Shibuya Crossing. While there is an admission fee for the observation platform, which is around 15 euros, the unforgettable views more than justify the price.

Once you reach the heights of Shibuya Sky, a fascinating skyline unfolds, showcasing Tokyo's impressive blend of tradition and modernity. The view extends over glittering skyscrapers to iconic landmarks such as the Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree. The sunset view is particularly impressive, casting the city in warm evening light.

The observation platform is not only a place for spectacular photo opportunities but also a relaxation spot. With various seating areas and cafes, Shibuya Sky provides the perfect environment to lean back, enjoy the view, and observe the bustling city from a bird's-eye perspective.

However, for those with a fear of heights or claustrophobia, Shibuya Sky might not be the best recommendation. The escalators along the exterior facade leading to the observation platform and the completely dark high-speed elevator, which covers nearly 35 floors in a matter of seconds and features 3D animation screens inside, may provide a somewhat traumatic experience for individuals with such concerns.

The 12th and 13th floors of the building offer a diverse culinary experience for everyone, and on the 14th floor, you'll find many small shops featuring typical Japanese craftsmanship and high-quality souvenirs. It's definitely worth checking out! Right after leaving Shibuya Sky on the 14th floor, you'll find Kagurazaka Saryo restaurant on your right, which I highly recommend. They offer traditional Japanese cuisine at a high level and reasonable prices.

Conclusion:

A visit to Shibuya Sky is more than just a tourist attraction; it's a journey to the heights of the fascinating metropolis of Tokyo. The combination of modern architecture, breathtaking views, and the vibrant energy of Shibuya makes this place an unforgettable experience. For those who want to experience Tokyo from a new perspective, including Shibuya Sky in their travel itinerary is undoubtedly a must.
